You can permanently delete your Sabio account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains the two ways to do that, exactly what gets deleted, and what (if anything) we retain.
Option 1 — In the app (fastest)
- Open Sabio on your device.
- Sign in if you're not already.
- Tap the Profile tab (bottom-right).
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm on the prompt.
Deletion is immediate: your account is signed out on all devices and your record is removed from our active systems.
Option 2 — By email (if you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in)
Send an email to privacy@sabio.app from the email address you used to sign up. Include the subject line "Delete my Sabio account".
We verify the request against your registered email, then delete your account and confirm by reply. Response time: within 7 business days, usually within 48 hours.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your account credentials (email, hashed password)
- Your profile (name, country, city, gender, age group, phone, bio, avatar image)
- Your quiz history and answers
- Your coin balance and coin transaction ledger
- Your streak, streak-multiplier, and streak-saver credits
- Your referral code and referral relationships
- Your interests / category selections
- Your push notification token
- Any avatar images you uploaded
- Any perks (theme, frame, hint credits) attached to your account
What we retain (and why)
To comply with legal, tax, and anti-abuse obligations, we may retain a limited set of records after deletion:
- Anonymised analytics events — event logs that cannot be linked back to you personally are retained in our analytics platform (PostHog) indefinitely for aggregate product analysis.
- Fraud-prevention hashes — a one-way hash of your email may be retained for up to 12 months to prevent abuse of the referral program by repeat sign-ups.
- Financial records — if you ever made an in-app purchase, the transaction record (amount, date, tax jurisdiction) is retained for the period required by tax law in your jurisdiction (typically 7 years). Personal identifiers are stripped as soon as legally permissible.
- Backups — encrypted backups may contain your data for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are overwritten in the normal backup rotation.
Deletion cannot be undone
Once your account is deleted, we cannot restore your streak, coin balance, quiz history, or any other data. If you sign up again in future with the same email, it will be a fresh account.
Third-party data
Sabio uses the following third-party services that may hold data linked to you. When you delete your account, we send the corresponding deletion or opt-out signals:
- Google AdMob — advertising ID reset instructions: Advertising ID controls on Android.
- PostHog — analytics events are anonymised on deletion; contact us if you want them removed entirely.
- Sentry — crash reports linked to your user ID are purged.
- Expo push service / FCM — your push token is revoked and rotated.
